Elmer Hayes Haney, age 82, a lifelong resident of Clinton, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home.He was born in Anderson County on September 25, 1938 and was a lifelong member of Batley Baptist Church. Elmer worked many years as a Custodian for the Oak Ridge School System and worked 23 years as a Painter for X-10. Elmer was proud to be a Mason and belonged to Omega Lodge #536 in Oliver Springs. Most importantly, Elmer Haney was a loving father to his children and "Papaw" to his grandchildren.Elmer is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ruth Haney; parents, Brance and Hallie Haney; sister, Bertha Duncan; brother, Willard Haney.He is survived by his children, Mike Haney and wife Pam of Blackshear, Georgia, Kathy Ellis of Clinton, and Carol Townley of Crossville; grandchildren, Joshua Archer and wife Lindsey of Deer Lodge, Justin Ellis and wife Kelsey of Clinton, Meghan Ellis of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Makayla Archer, Jaxon Archer, and Baron Ellis; special niece, Deana Gangwer.The Haney family would like to sincerely thank Quality Private Duty Care for the genuine love that was shown and the excellent care they provided to Elmer during his illness.Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Premier Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at 7 pm with Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating.
