Obituary

Frances Donahue-Papenfuss born July 15, 1925, age 100, of Harriman, TN, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Frances was a faithful member of Dyllis Baptist Church and Jonesville Methodist Church. She was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, serving as Worthy Matron five times, and served as Grand Instructor of Wyoming.

A lifelong lover of sports, Frances was a Senior Olympian in basketball, competing in Syracuse, New York. She was an avid fan of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball, traveling across the country to support and cheer on her team.

Frances worked as a secretary at Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN and was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Above all, Frances loved her family very much and was always there for them.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands: Allen Donahue and Fred Papenfus. Parents: Benjamin and Edith Richmond Butler and a sister Bennie Bramblett.

Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and husband Phillip Parker of Farragut, TN; grandson, Matthew Swafford of Farragut, TN; and great-grandson, Leonidas Allen Swafford of Rockwood, TN.

Private graveside services for family and close friends were held at Dyllis Baptist Church Cemetery.
