Jackson (Jackie) King Rather III, 57, of Oliver Springs, TN passed on December 29th from complications of COVID-19. Jackie was a proud father, a loyal significant other, an inspirational leader, and a good man to all. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, grilling and smoking meat with his family and friends on the weekends, an avid traveler and lover of the beach, and he thrived on protecting his community while at work. Jackie was an employee of Tennessee Department of Corrections (Morgan County Correctional Complex) for over 30 years, and he was strongly admired by many coworkers. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his father Jack Rather and mother Geraldine Rather. He is survived by significant other Sharon Houston, daughter Jennifer and her wife Erika Rather, sister Diane and her husband Roy Turnbill, fur-children Maggie and Amos, fur-grandchildren Harley, Blu, Remi, Charles, and Charlotte, and many more family and friends. He is to be cremated per his wishes.
