Janet Gail Parton, age 74 of Powell, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. After growing up in Powell, Janet moved to St. Louis, then back to Powell, TN where she taught high school English for Knox County School Systems at Powell High School for 30 plus years.

Janet was proceeded in death by her parents James C. "JC" and Rosemary D. Parton. Janet is survived by her son Keith Bird and wife Chelsea of Powell, TN, grandchildren Audrey Bird and Emmalyn Bird.

Janet was doting and incredible grandmother to Audrey and Emmalyn as well as a wonderful mother to her Keith.

Janet was an avid animal lover and rescued several cats and dogs. She was also part of the King Charles Spanish Cavalier Brigade.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Young-Williams Animal Shelter in Knoxville, TN.

The family will hold a graveside at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton, TN on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.
