Obituary

Joann (Patrick) Braden "Granny Jo", age 84 and a longtime resident of Oliver Springs, passed away December 7, 2020 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge with her daughter by her side. She has now gained her angel wings in her heavenly home with her husband and loved ones waiting to greet her.Joann was born on September 25, 1936 in Petros. She accepted Jesus into her heart at a young age and was a faithful member of Cove Road Church for over 30 years. She was known to be the best peanut butter cake and cornbread maker there was. She was known as "Granny Jo" to everyone she seen, whether at a ballgame, watching her great grandbabies or in the car rider line picking them up from school. She would welcome you in her home no matter who you were; she never met a stranger. If you came by her house to see her and asked if she wanted to go, she would hop in the car; she was always up for a road trip, no matter who it was with. Granny Jo was also known as a street walker going up and down the road checking on her neighbors daily and going to Family Dollar to check on the ladies who were working. She took pride in her yard, mowing it in the summer so it would look pretty. At Christmas time, she loved to hang her Christmas lights and put out decorations for others to drive by and enjoy.Granny Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Braden; son, Dennis Braden; brother, Jackie Patrick; father and mother, Lawrence and Dessie Patrick; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Bass and husband Jeff of Oliver Springs, Katrine Coppenger and husband David of Oliver Springs, Erin Maack and husband Rick of California; grandchildren, Kevin Alexander of Oliver Springs, Kaylee Moore and husband Jeff of Harriman, Kayla McCoy and husband John of Oliver Springs; Trevor Coppenger and wife Charlie of Murfreesboro, Brittney Tuttle and husband Jeremy of Sweetwater, Charlene Ford of Oliver Springs; great-grandchildren, Kiley and Nixon Alexander, Addyson and Aleigha Moore, Lukas McCoy, Mahayla Tuttle, Raydon Carroll, Wyatt, Doc, and Miss Bell Maack, Hunter and Lucas Ford; sisters, Helen Daugherty of Oliver Springs, Betty Stanley and husband Frank of Indiana; brothers, Tom Patrick and wife Jeanette of Wartburg, Robert Patrick of Wartburg, Gary Patrick and wife Mona of Petros, Slim Patrick and wife Marie of Trenton, TN.Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Premier Sharp Funeral Home.
