Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Joycelyn Woods Brown passed

away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Joy retired from civil service in 1993 and went on to begin a second career she truly loved in

real estate, where she worked until her retirement in 2020. Outgoing and full of life, Joy always

embraced each day with energy and creativity. She was talented in many arts and crafts,

especially painting and sewing, and her artistic spirit remained with her throughout her

lifetime. Joy cherished spending time with her family and was deeply devoted to caring for

them. She also treasured the company of her many friends in the community. Whether

entertaining at the lake or organizing events at the BPOE Elks Lodge, where she was a longtime

member.

Joy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald L. Brown; her daughter, Jill Brown

Silvey; and her two very special grandsons to whom she was devoted, Randy Jomack Silvey and

Parker Lee Silvey. Joy is survived by her special nephew Timothy Borum Her loving sister and

brother-in-law Ina Jo Griffith and David Griffith. Sister-in-Law Martha Ann Woods and many

wonderful nieces, and nephews great nieces and great nephews. Joy was proceeded in death

by her parents Elijah and Mamie Woods. Her sisters Betty Lou Borum, Iva Laverne Duncan, Ida

Corene Holbert and Novaline Woods By her brothers Ross Haynes Fagan, Thomas Russell

Woods, Paul Allen Woods, Maurice Alton Woods, and her son-in- law Randy L. Silvey.

The Family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with the

funeral to follow at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel at Sharp Funeral Home with Rev Matt Reed officiating.
