Lori Lynn Williams, age 52 of Oak Ridge, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born on May 10, 1972, to Howard Robinson and Nanci Miller and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1990. It was during her high school years that she met Sam, a friendship that would later blossom into a love story.  After taking different paths for many years, fate brought them back together nine years ago and they were married in 2018.

As a child, Lori was the oldest of three siblings and always saw her role as protector. Throughout her growing up years she was determined and headstrong, doing things her own way, even if the hard way.

Lori was a "Jill of all trades" and could do just about anything she set her mind to do. Early in life she learned to cook from her mother and grandmother, but her very own self-taught specialty was cheesecake. She loved country life and lived on farms and wide open spaces as she raised sons (Matthew and Darrell) and vegetables, tending to both with discipline and love. Her gardens produced vegetables and fruits of all sorts, so she learned to can everything from jams and preserves to spaghetti sauce and salsa. Her garden also helped produce sons who understood the meaning of hard work, providing for the family through their own sweat and effort, and the discipline of caring for the land and plants.

Lori could repair just about anything mechanical: cars, refrigerators, lawn mowers, you name it. What she didn't know, she researched and self-educated until she could get things done. Through this, she also taught her children that there were no excuses and no quitting. When faced with challenges, she would meet the world with a "suck it up, buttercup" attitude, and she would go get things done. Her son's words say it well: "life has never been easy on you. Everywhere you turn, there's another battle thrown in your face. But through everything, you always come out swinging ready to fight. That's something you've instilled in me and I'm blessed to have you as my mom. You never quit, you never give up, and you NEVER back down. Thank you for everything you've taught me."

Lori worked a variety of jobs in many different fields, reinventing herself many times over. From cook to cleaner, construction crew to real estate agent, from research analyst to owning her own business, she truly was a renaissance woman. She had an unwavering work ethic and in all things she showed unparalleled grit and determination, traits she picked up from her own mother's example.

Nine years ago life brought Sam and Lori back together. What started as a renewal of their highschool friendship soon blossomed into the deepest and truest love of Lori's life. She glowed and smiled like a schoolgirl when Sam was around, and the tough veneer she carried came crumbling down in the presence of his love. Her best friend jokingly accused her of "going soft" and couldn't get over the impact that the love of a good man had on Lori. Along with Sam, Lori received the blessing of two more children, Savanna and Jordan. She loved them as her own, sharing the same 'tough love' and common sense wisdom that epitomized Lori's approach to life.

Her adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors led to a passion for fishing and riding motorcycles with her husband through the Smoky Mountains. They loved to take spontaneous trips to Cherokee for the weekend where they laughed, played, and enjoyed scenic views. When at home, they loved to host family gatherings with all the kids and grandkids running around the yard and playing together and with her beloved dogs (Athena and Jimmy).

Above all, Lori cherished her role as "Mamaw". Her grandbabies were her everything, and she poured her heart into creating lasting memories with them. Tickling the grandbabies till they squealed, throwing them in the air or the pool, chasing them around the yard and cuddling during movies were some of her favorite activities. A gift from one grandson was a toy Green Hulk that she carried to all her doctor appointments to protect her, but also as a reminder of the strength he saw in her. After her amputations, she told the kids that she sneezed too hard and her legs fell off and one grandbaby replied "me no sneeze no more!". That was just the sense of humor she had, and she faced every single challenge with it. Her sarcasm and dark humor carried her through many trying times, facing the hardships of life with a laugh and shrug. Although she was fierce, fearless, and bold, she possessed a huge and sensitive heart. She shared forehead kisses with all her grandbabies and told them "forehead kisses are forever", a small gesture that they truly will carry with them forever.

Lori is survived by her loving husband, Sam Williams "My King"; mother, Nanci Miller (Robert); her children, Matthew Wangler "Wild Child" (Cierra), Darrell Davis "Baby D" (Jessica), Savanna Wright "Baby Girl" (Jacob), and Jordan Morgan; her adored grandchildren, Gabriel Jordan "G-Man", Colton Davis "Baby C", Torvi Wangler "The Terrorist", Howard Wangler "Lil' Mouse", and Gwendolyn Wangler "Monkey Butt"; brother, Billie Robinson; sister, Jessica Miller (Bobby); nieces, Hannah Miller "Princess" and Emily Miller "Mini Me"; mother-in-law, Inge Williams; brother-in-law, Kurt Williams and 'ride or die' best friend, Stacy Haun.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Lori on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Beech Park Baptist Church with receiving of friends from 3:30-5:00 PM and service at 5:00 PM.
