Ralph Willard Henley, age 91 of Oliver Springs, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at his home.
He was born on April 1, 1933 to Henry and Rosie Henley. Upon his graduation from Oliver Springs High School, Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served in the Korean War. While stationed in California, he met his wife of 68 years, Merle in 1953. They were married in San Diego shortly after they met. After his Honorable discharge from the Navy, Ralph and Merle moved back to Tennessee where he worked at K-25 for a short time before his career in law enforcement. After many years of dedicated service to our community, Ralph retired from Oak Ridge Police Department.
Ralph was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Merle Ann Henley; children, Flynn R. Henley and Peggy Ann Henley.
He is survived by his children, Steve W. Henley, and Debbie Marney; grandchildren, Michael Henley, Maggie Rose Choate, Deedee McFarland, and Amanda Godbey; great-grandchildren, Chase Henley, Emery and Charlee Bottiny, Alexis and Camden, Elaina Rose and Evelyn Godbey; special nieces and nephews, Ralph Willard Henley, Brenda and husband Jim, Linda and husband Bill, Donna and husband David; host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at George Jones Memorial Baptist Church in the Wheat Community of Oak Ridge with Pastor Dean Wright officiating.
