Roy E. Haney, age 73, of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.He was born on June 27, 1947 in Anderson Co. Roy was a member, deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at New Fairview Baptist Church for over 50 years. He worked his entire life at EG&G ORTEC until his retirement. Roy was skilled at wood working and often shared his craft with his family by making gifts for them. Most importantly, he enjoyed being around his family and spending time with them.Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Lonas and Jennie Haney; brother, Lonzy Haney; father and mother-in-law, Vaughn and Alice Gaylor; brothers-in-law, Charles Gaylor, Douglas Hackworth, and Daniel Cryer; sister-in-law, Gloria Haney.Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Brenda G. Haney; children, Wade and wife Amy Haney, Allison and husband Mark Richardson; sisters, Virgie Hackworth, Velma Cryer, Shirley and husband Bryan Cofer, Susie and husband Greg Foust; grandchildren, Emily and husband Patrick Lee, Kayla and husband Zack Baird, Vaughn and wife Stephanie Haney, and Timothy Haney; great-grandchildren, Alice Baird; special friend, Vance Harmon; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and wonderful church family.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to New Fairview Baptist Church 1st Love African Ministries.Visitation will be on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 12-2 pm at New Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm with Pastor John Edwards and Rev. Greg Evans officiating.
