Sandra Linnea (Rennich) Edwards, a longtime resident of Oak Ridge, died peacefully at her home on September 29th after a battle with Parkinson's disease. Sandra grew up in Oak Ridge and graduated from ORHS. She earned degrees from the University of Tennessee and the University of Bridgeport. She was a staunch advocate of women's issues and environmental protection. For many years she worked in computer science at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Sandra was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oak Ridge.Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Rennich.She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Robert Edwards, daughter Laura Edwards (John McAllister) of Princeton, NJ, four siblings: Marion Griffith (Thomas) of Princeton, NJ, John Rennich (Paula) of Chattanooga, Mark Rennich (Vicki Mayfield) of Knoxville, George Rennich (Jane Sasser) of Indian Trail, NC, and by numerous nieces and nephews.The family is very grateful to Rebecca Moses for the special care she provided to Sandra for the past ten years.A memorial service will be held at the Oak Ridge First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 12 at 11a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a memorial to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt University.Premier Sharp Funeral Home is honored to serve the Edwards family.
